Sirovich Program Information

All classes are accessible, free, and led by professional instructors and teaching artists. Each class offers a great opportunity to learn new skills or revisit old pastimes as well as engage with your community.

Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes before your activities.

Meal Schedules

Breakfast

Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM | Dining Room
Sign in between 8:45 AM – 9:55 AM and ticket required. Dining room opens at 8:30 AM. Members have to exit the dining room at 10:30 AM.

Lunch

Monday – Friday | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM | Dining Room
Sign in between 11:00 AM – 12:55 PM and ticket required. Dining room opens at 11:00 AM. Members have to exit the dining room at 1:30 PM.


Pantry Information

Sign up for our monthly pantry on the first Wednesday of each month. Appointments are required—please arrive within five minutes of your scheduled time. Items cannot be given out before your appointment. To sign up or learn more, call 646-395-4534, email sirovich@14streety.org, or visit the front desk.

Our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon is now sold out. For those who have a 2nd seating ticket, please note there was a typo on the ticket. Check-in for the 2nd seating begins at 11:45 am in the auditorium, and lunch for 2nd seating will begin at 12:45 p.m.

Join our 7-week fall painting series for new and experienced artists! Explore watercolor, acrylic, or oil in a supportive group setting. Materials provided. Limited to 8 participants (+2 alternates). Playback Theatre with Drama Therapy Intern Maggie

You are invited to share moments from your lives reimagined through movement, sound, and dialogue. Playback Theatre is a form of improvisational drama where personal stories are explored through creative expression. During Breakfast Service, Staff will deliver a presentation with information on the upcoming Election, including a review of who is running for what public offices, what the public offices do, the six ballot proposals, and election preparedness.

 

Nutrition Presentation: Eating Healthy for Older Adults Part 2 with Dietician Doug

This class provides a basic introduction to using a meal tracker like MyFitnessPal and how to access credible evidence based information with internet search.

AhHa! Broadway 1940s Radio Hour

Join us for a special performance created by the participants of the 1940’s Radio Hour Workshop led by Su-Casa Artist in Residence, AhHa! Broadway. This culminating performance reimagines a live radio broadcast from that era!

 

Scam Prevention Presentation with Bank of America

Learn how to recognize common tactics used by scammers, safeguard your personal information, and take steps to keep your finances secure. This presentation will provide practical tips and real-life examples to help you stay alert and confident in today’s digital world.

“Understanding Medicare” Workshop by Vanguards of Medicare

November 19 | 1:30 – 2:30 PM | Lounge

Join us as a representative from Vanguards of Medicare visit to present on the changes to Medicare, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage plans that impacts community members. The workshop will provide a comprehensive update on new rules and laws, including how they affect Medicare plan benefits.

Beginners Ceramic Session with Deb

Starts October 13
Discover the art of ceramics in this hands-on beginner class! Learn the fundamentals of working with clay, including hand-building techniques, basic wheel throwing, and glazing. Our expert instructor will guide you step by step as you create your own unique pottery pieces. This class serves as the first step toward our Intermediate Ceramic Courses, providing you with the foundational skills needed to advance your craft. Open Swim

Planning to swim at the 14th Street Y? Make sure to register at the Sirovich front desk before your visit—registration is required! Once registered, you’ll receive a confirmation. Without it, you won’t be able to attend. Don’t forget to bring your Sirovich membership card for check-in and a swim cap (required for all swimmers). Jazz Line Dance with Bernard

Discover the joy of movement in our Jazz Line Dance class! This dynamic class blends the vibrant energy of jazz dance with the fun and social aspects of line dancing, creating an exhilarating experience for dancers of all levels.

 

Balance 101 with Demetra 
3:15 PM – 4:00 PM | 1ST FL Auditorium
This chair class focuses on strengthening muscles and improving flexibility to allow for the joint stability and mobility we need for walking and completing everyday tasks around the home like carrying groceries and doing the laundry. People of all abilities, including anyone who uses an assistive walking device or wheelchair or is recovering from knee, foot, hip injuries, etc., can participate. You also have the option of completing standing work, with the chair in arms-reach.

 

Tapping Together with Demetra
4:00 – 5:00 PM | 1ST FL Auditorium
Join us for an exciting intergenerational tap dance class, offered in partnership with 14Y Afterschool students grades K – 2. Instruction is tailored for adults and children who have a passion for dance and rhythm or just want to have fun. No previous dance experience is necessary to participate.

Chair Yoga for Bone Health with Rie

Classic yoga class focuses on stretching, joint mobility, balance, posture, and bone density support. Safe for folks with injuries and osteoporosis. Energizing for all.

She can help with device usage, troubleshooting, and offer guidance on various topics such as email, texting, setting up voicemail, tips and tricks, learning about apps, and protecting yourself from viruses and malware. Feel free to stop by!

Jewelry Making with Phyliss 
1:00 PM – 3:50 PM | Lounge
Unleash your creativity in this hands-on beginner jewelry making class! Whether you’re looking to start a new hobby or create personalized gifts, this workshop will guide you through the basics of designing and assembling your own custom jewelry. Learn techniques such as wire wrapping, beading, and working with findings, while experimenting with various materials like glass beads, semi-precious stones, and metals. Alliance Stage Company: Expressive Arts with AhHa! Broadway

Participate in the AhHa! Broadway and Alliance Stage Company 1940s Radio Hour workshop! You will learn how to collaborate with each other to do a radio show using transcriptions of the original 1940’s broadcast recordings. There will be a final performance on Friday, November 14. The Sirovich Center holds a food pantry service on the first Wednesday of each calendar month.
