Portraits of the 14th Street Y is a photography project that tells the stories behind many faces of the 14th Street Y community, including members, staff, teachers, trainers, artists, caregivers, families, and local business owners. This series showcases intimate portraits of those individuals, accompanied by their unique anecdotes and experiences, as told through interviews with the artist. Warm up in the lobby with hot coffee, bagels, and a special performance by the Silver Sirens senior cheer squad! We will also be joined by NYU Dentistry student-dentists, who will be providing dental and oral cancer screenings, personalized oral health education, and dental health goodie bags.
Join the staff of the 14th Street Y as we kick off the Hanukkah holiday together in the lobby at 4 PM. Candle lighting will be led by Michele Schulman, new Program Manager for Jewish Life. Jelly-filled treats will be available, no miracle required.
After School is coming down to the lobby at 4 PM to really bring in the Hanukkah spirit! Together we will sing songs, light candles, and share in the community we all build together.
Traditional candle lighting ceremony at 4 PM in the lobby. We will share the story of Hanukkah and think of the miracles in our own lives.
On the 7th night of Hanukkah, we’ll sing songs and light candles with Rabbi Shira Koch Epstein and the Parenting Center. We will have one of our Drop-In class song leaders join us at 4:45PM before we come together around the menorah at 5PM in the lobby.
To conclude our Hanukkah celebration, we’ll start a little later at 5:45pm in the lobby with our fabulous Theater friends. Hanukkah treats and light entertainment will be had as we send off the Festival of Lights in our beautiful community.
